Who Are The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit?

Disclaimer: This information is designed to address a specific question. It is not all-encompassing with respect to all the Holy Bible affords us, nor it is designed to give a “road map” for all things in the heart of God, mind of Christ, illumination by the Holy Spirit. It is imperative to read this in light of God’s Word, and having received prayerfully an anointed understanding from God’s Holy Spirit.

A response to the question “Is there one God or are there three separate entities, and if so, what is our relationship or interaction with each?” The short answer: We relate to one God in three Divine persons. 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

In the beginning, God, the Father | Jesus Christ, the Son of God | The Spirit of God co-existed before the foundation of the world(s).

Genesis 1:27 – Let us make man in our image, after our likeness

John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God

1 John 1:1-3 – Jesus is the Word, and was in the beginning with God and manifested to the apostles/disciples

John 17:24 – [Jesus is praying to God] Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

Genesis 1:1 (KJV) 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:2 (KJV) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

God, the Father is one Divine Person: The word “God” from Genesis Chapter 1 through Genesis 2:1 – is Elohim (Hebrew Strong’s 430).

Elohim is one of the Names/Facets/Character/Dimensions of God meaning Creator and Judge (Ruler) of the Universe. He is transcendent, meaning He is distinct from the creation that He created. God fills heaven and earth. He is transcendent, He is Immanent (El-Mikkarov – remaining within, indwelling, inherent), and He is Imminent (likely to occur at that moment or Omnipresent, He is everywhere present all the time). He has a Presence in the earth, but He is not limited to the earth. He is simultaneously present everywhere.

Genesis 2:4 – These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens…NOTE: In this verse 4, God interfaces personally with His creation, and this is the first time in Scripture we see “Lord God”, denoting “Jehovah Elohim”. Jehovah is The Self-Revealing One Who relates to His creation. When God moves in a way that He is close to man (relationship), He is YVHV (Yaweh). Jehovah is the God who personally reveals Himself to us. God is a person – I AM. Evolution puts us in an impersonal universe “the force.” God is a person who exists, not just a force who moves.

Genesis 2:7 (KJV) And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. The word breathed is HS 5301 napha (naw-fah) meaning puff of wind, to blow strongly.

Jeremiah 23:23-24 (KJV) 23 Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? 24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

John 4:24 (KJV) “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” The word “Spirit” is Greek Strong’s 4151 Pneuma meaning wind, breath, life, vitality.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God is one Divine Person:

John 1:14 (KJV) 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John 6:38 (KJV) 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

Matthew 3:17, Matthew 17:5; Mark 1:11; Luke 3:22; 2 Peter 1:17 – A voice came from heaven saying, ‘Thou art my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”

John 13:3 (KJV) 3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

John 5:36-37 (KJV) – But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. 37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

John 10:30 – I and my Father are one.

John 17:3-4 (KJV) – And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

Philippians 2:5-8 – Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

John 17:8 (KJV) – For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

Colossians 1:17 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

The Spirit of God is one Divine Person – Ruah Elohim – The Spirit is the Ruah (HS 7307) meaning the breath/wind/ and HS 7306 Ruwach meaning an exhalation, blast of breath. Elohim is the Creator and Maker of the universe.

Genesis 1:2 (KJV) 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

John 15:26-27 (KJV) 26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: 27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning. The word “Comforter” is GS 3875 parakletos meaning advocate, consoler, the One Who comes along side of to help.

John 16:7-11 (KJV) 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

  1. Old Testament – God, Who is Spirit, spoke to/related to mankind by speaking to humanity through His chosen representative, usually a Prophet or a Judge, because Jesus and the Holy Spirit were still in heaven, and were not purposed for the earth yet.

1) Genesis 2:15-17 and Genesis 3:9 – God spoke to Adam

2) 2 Chronicles. 20:7; Isaiah. 41:8; James 2:23 – Abraham called friend of God

3) Genesis 6:8 and Genesis 6:13 – Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

4) Exodus 33:11 – Moses face-to-face

5) Judges 4:4 – Deborah; Judges 16:28 – Samson; Judges 16:21-23 – Gideon*

*Note: These are but a few examples; there are many, many more in the Holy Bible.

  1. Mankind continued the “on again, off again obedience” behavior toward God, to which God, Who always wants relationship with His creation/mankind, spoke that the sacrifices given by men (bulls, goats, lambs) were no longer acceptable.

1 Samuel 15:22 – And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

Jeremiah 6:19-20 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it. 20 To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.

Isaiah 1:11 – To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

  1. C. God sought someone who would become His required and acceptable sacrifice. God is Holy and does not look upon sin (disobedience). To restore the relationship between God and His creation, man, God required an acceptable sacrifice who could take upon them the sin that separated God from man.

Isaiah 59:16 (KJV) 16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

Hebrews 10:4-6 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. 5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

1 John 4:9-10 – In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Propitiation is GS 2434 hilasmos meaning atonement, acceptable sacrifice

  1. God, who is Spirit, poured Himself into flesh, becoming the Son of God, and the Son of Man because there was no one on earth who met the criteria of an acceptable sacrifice. There was no one on the earth who was sinless.

Luke 1:31-35 – And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Note: The body prepared in Hebrews 10:5 above is the result of Mary, conceiving in her womb, and thus Jesus as the “son of man” human being. And, Mary, having conceived in her womb by the overshadowing (envelop in a haze of brilliance) of Holy Spirit of God, not human but Deity, leads to Jesus, the Son of God.

  1. How do we relate to and communicate with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit in the New Covenant (Testament)? Today God speaks to us in a variety of ways, primarily through His thoughts or written Word (logos), and also through His right now, spoken in this moment Word (rhema) which is delivered to us by His Holy Spirit, and through His Prophets, and confirmed by His written Word. We can speak to God because of Jesus, the acceptable sacrifice at Calvary Who restored our ability to be in the presence of a Holy God.

STEP 1: Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. This is the whole premise by which we can maneuver victoriously in the Kingdom of God, access anything from the Kingdom of Heaven, and see if manifest, in the Name of Jesus, on the earth. Jesus owns everything.

John 16:27-28 (KJV) At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: 27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

Colossians 1:12-22 (KJV) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. 21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

1 John 5:20 (KJV) And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life

Hebrews 1:1-3 – God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

STEP 2: Jesus taught His disciples to ask the Father in Jesus’ Name. God is Holy; we desire to be holy, but until we achieve God-level holiness, we must be covered by the Blood of Jesus, that is, forgiven for our sins because we believe on the Name of Jesus, before we can approach God. We are not pure enough, but Jesus’s blood at Calvary makes us acceptable to, and accessible to God, The Father. We pray to, ask, petition, request what we need to accomplish God’s will on the earth by accessing heaven, and we can only get to, and through heaven by asking in Jesus’ Name.

John 14:13-14 – And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John 15:7 – If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. NOTE: The word “abide” is GS 3306 meaning to stay, dwell, endure. So if we stay in Him, and His Word stays in us, THEN we shall ask what we will and it shall be done unto us. His Word is His will, so we must learn to ask, in Jesus’s name, according to what Jesus/God wants, not what we want.

John 16:26-28 – At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: 27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

1 John 5:14-15 – And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

  1. What about God’s Holy Spirit? What is His role? When Jesus was on the earth, He taught His disciples then (Luke 9:1-6 and Luke 10:3-11), and He prepared them to teach even us, down through the generations, to accomplish God’s purpose on the earth (John 17:17-21). What is God’s purpose for the earth? For the saints and prophets to rule and reign with Jesus (Daniel 7:13-14; Colossians 1:16; 2 Timothy 2:12) when He returns – Hagiosmos – To restore the earth, that which was once beautiful (Garden of Eden pre-sin, pre-serpent) to its original intent and purpose and to restore rule and reign of Jesus Christ upon the new heaven and new earth (Hebrews 12:22-25 and Revelation 21:1-2).

Luke 4:1-3 The Holy Spirit empowered Jesus to withstand the temptation of the devil

Acts 4:8-12 The Holy Spirit empowered Peter to speak boldly for Jesus Christ

Luke 12:12 and John 16:13-15 The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

1 Corinthians 2:9-16 The Holy Spirit helps us to discern spiritual things, the issues, matters, burdens of God from natural (man) things.

1 Corinthians 3:19 and 1 Corinthians 6:19 – The Holy Spirit, God’s dunamis or explosive power, lives in us to enable us. We cannot do God’s work without God’s power (Dunamis-Miraculous might, Exousia-authority, Ischus-prevailing power, kratos-Kingdom dominion, Energia-Effectiveness, Bia/Biastes – Aggressive power, and Megas – City-taking power).

1 Corinthians 12:7; 1 Corinthians 12:11, and Hebrews 2:3-5 – The Holy Spirit distributes the gifts of God

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Is Being “Slain in the Spirit” a Move of God’s Spirit?

As Believers, How are we to respond to Houston? (Hurricane Harvey)

Seek God for understanding

– It is an emotional time, but God does not address emotions, He speaks to our spirit:

Exodus 4 – Moses’s argument with God about leading – God went right over it

Joshua 1:1-2 – Joshua, Moses is dead; arise and go.

Acts 9:10-17 – Ananias, I [God] know who Saul of Tarsus was, now go…

Trust our God IN our brothers and sisters, and not get caught up in what others are saying. Romans 12:10 – Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Luke 9:49-50; 1 Thessalonians 5:11-13 – Know those who labor among you, and esteem them very highly in love for their works’ sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

Trust God, and Know that He is in charge

– Acts 5:29-39, specifically Acts 5:35 &38-39 (KJV) 35 And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men…. 38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: 39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

Everything we think, say, and do is recorded in heaven

. Malachi 3:16-17, Psalm 56:8; Psalm 139:23; Proverbs 15:3; Luke 10:21. If Jesus can know our thoughts, so does God. Matthew 9:4; 2 Corinthians 10:5

Whose Job is it anyway?

  • The EkklesiaMandates on God’s Ecclesia’s
    • Yes, we know the Ekklesia of God is to be God’s example in the community, but the leader has to be focused on what the Lord is saying immediately to him/her, and not what “the people are saying”
      • Moses smote the rock instead of speaking to it (Numbers 20:10-12)
      • King Saul did not kill everything as God had instructed him (1 Samuel 15:3, and 13-19)
    • Church is more than what we see on Sunday. Operating the Church is both spiritual and administrative – There is a governance side to church as well, and this is the side most who are not involved in their church do not see.
      • We are indeed registered citizens of heaven, but the earth is our home right now (Luke 10:20; Philippians 3:20), and we still have a responsibility to govern ourselves under the authorities appointed over us (Romans 13:1-8; 1 Timothy 2:1-6) We still have a responsibility to the local, county, state, and Federal government/governance.
      • What are the laws of the land that we must obey?
        • As a Non-Profit Organization of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Code (501 (c )(3)
        • We are fiscally/financially responsible to the Department of the Treasury, Commissioner of the IRS.
      • As citizens of heaven and earth – Let us ask ourselves, Did I seek the Lord, trusting in God to show me for whom to vote, and then vote for Christian leaders who will govern according to God’s plans? (Psalm 20:7; Psalm 28:7; all of Psalm 37; 2 Chronicles 20:12 & 20)
  • The GovernmentGovernance (Exodus 18:13-26) – Especially Exodus 18:14-18. Acts 6:1-7. Pastors and Set-Gifts: One person cannot do it all, so delegate TO THOSE WHO ARE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD, WHO KNOW HOW TO GOVERN THEMSELVES UNDER HIS AUTHORITY, AND GOD’s APPOINTED AUTHORITIES.
    • God said, “Touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm” (1 Chronicles 16:22 and Psalms 105:15).
    • We are not to speak against our brothers/sisters in Christ (1 Peter 2:17)
    • We are not so speak against what we do not understand, but to seek God for understanding, knowing that if He chooses to reveal it, He will – He is Sovereign, and He does whatever He pleases. (Psalm 115:3 and Psalm 135:5-6).
    • Let us watch our mouth for we will have to give an account for every idle word (Matthew 12:36)
      • God appointed and anointed Joshua (Numbers 27:18-23; Deuteronomy 34:9)
      • God appointed and anointed King Saul (1 Samuel 15:1)
      • God appointed and anointed King David (1 Samuel 16:12-13)
      • God appointed and anointed Pastor Joel Osteen – check out his website under “Our Ministry” for the mandate on Lakewood Church; he is accountable to God for the mandate, not you or me (Romans 14:12)
  • The Government’s Responsibility to its people. [EDITORIAL: My background is Healthcare Administration. I was on deck at the Federal level when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, and I must tell you, there are many, many levels of involvement in responding to our National Disasters. As a member of the Army Medical Department, our first criticism was “Why isn’t the Army doing anything about this?” We talked about “mandates”. What is the Army’s mission/mandate? To go fight and win International Wars. What is the Army Medical Department’s mission? To provide healthcare (medical, mental, dental, eye sight, etc) to those who go, fight and win International wars.
  • There are laws that preclude the Military at the Federal level from intervening – Posse Comitatus. What is that? – This Federal law limits the powers of the federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. It was passed as an amendment to an army appropriation bill following the end of Reconstruction, and was subsequently updated in 1956 and 1981. The Act only specifically applies to the United States Army and, as amended in 1956, the United States Air Force. While the Act does not explicitly mention the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps, the Department of the Navy has prescribed regulations that are generally construed to give the Act force with respect to those services as well. The Act does not apply to the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard under state authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state’s governor. So we could not have helped if we wanted.
  • At that time, the Department of Health and Human Services stepped in because the Department of Homeland Security was still trying to get its arms around being established, its role, its authority, etc.]
  • For Houston, whose job IS IT to help? Not necessarily Pastor Joel Osteen and Lakewood Church. We know for sure it is the Government’s Department of Homeland Security (FEMA) and the Department of Health and Human Services, administered at the State and local levels.
  • Houston’s Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) states: Welcome to the City of Houston Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Website. Our mission is to provide programs and activities to City residents and departments to help them prepare for, cope with and recover from the effects of natural and man-made disasters. We do this through all four phases of emergency management: preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation.
  • Houston’s Government has an Emergency Management Plan, a Hazard Mitigation Plan, and an Operations Plan that helps to drive Houston’s Response by which they designate certain locations throughout the city as shelters
    • Do you know whether or not your church designated as an emergency management plan shelter?
    • Do you know where your nearest Emergency Shelter is located?
  • There are many people with many different needs that must be administered
    • Medical – Who are you and what are your needs
    • Medical – Do we have the capabilities to care for multiple medical needs
    • Medical – Triage
    • Mental – Do we have the facility capacity, staff support
    • Mental – Emotional stress; loss of loved ones
    • Hygiene – The logistics of food, clothing and shelter
  • The Compact Center is not listed as one of the primary shelter facilities. Even if it was, it is a “Church”, not a Hospital. Lakewood also becomes legally responsible for what happens to those under their roof – Does Lakewood have the staffing capacity and the resource capability to govern a diverse number of people, with diverse issues, in such a contained location? Does your/my church have that capacity/capability?
  • Governance – Respect Authority and Position – 1 Corinthians 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order. Let whoever is in charge be in charge – Since God allowed them to be in that leadership position, God and Jesus will judge their heart/actions (Acts 10:42; 2 Timothy 4:1; 1 Peter 4:5), and their work (1 Corinthians 3:11-13)
    • Houston’s Office of Emergency Management has a website: houstonemergency.org
    • Houston’s Mayor’s Office has Staff and Directors who are trained, and rehearse for such concerns
    • Houston has a Director of Emergency Medical Services and a Director of Neighborhoods
    • Houston’s website shows preparedness – They conduct routine meetings on emergency preparedness, and they invite neighborhoods to participate, schedule, or host these meetings
  • Our Response to Houston
  • Our service/ministry/stewardship – What is God speaking to you/me right now regarding our time, talent, and treasure responsibility for our Houstonian bretheren? (1 Corinthians 4:2; 1 Peter 4:10)
  • Our speech – every idle word… (Matthew 12:36; Romans 14:12)
  • Our works – our response will also be judged (Revelation 20:12-13)
  • Our love toward all mankind, and to one another (Galatians 6:10; 1 John 3:18)

“I Am” Confessions

Who’s Dressing You? A Look at Modesty in Dress

Matthew 22:15

Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.

16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.

17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?

18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?

19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.

20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?

21 They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.

22 When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

Matthew 22:15-22 (MSG)

That’s when the Pharisees plotted a way to trap him into saying something damaging. They sent their disciples, with a few of Herod’s followers mixed in, to ask, “Teacher, we know you have integrity, teach the way of God accurately, are indifferent to popular opinion, and don’t pander to your students. So tell us honestly: Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

18-19 Jesus knew they were up to no good. He said, “Why are you playing these games with me? Why are you trying to trap me? Do you have a coin? Let me see it.” They handed him a silver piece.

20 “This engraving—who does it look like? And whose name is on it?”

21 They said, “Caesar.”

“Then give Caesar what is his, and give God what is his.”

22 The Pharisees were speechless. They went off shaking their heads.

Let us look a bit closer at a topic that is hotly debated in the Church: how a godly woman should dress. Should a woman be covered from head to toe revealing no skin except maybe her forearms and face. Can her hemline stop right at her knee or should it be at least two inches below? Or, right at her ankles? Is a hint of cleavage okay? Is a sleeveless shirt or strapless dress inappropriate for worship service, yet okay for an evening on the town? Do stillettos mean she’s not in love with Jesus?

What in the world are, “sensual shoes” anyway??? Does her painted on jeans really have anything to do with her relationship with the Lord? Let’s look at our text in light of these questions and see what else the Bible teaches us on the modesty, dignity, and appearance of the apple of God’s eye: the woman.

  • There is a decision to be made. Who’s side are you on?
  • What shall we pledge allegiance to because that will dictate our actions. ( ex. Pink-breast cancer, family reunion T-shirt color) My style of dress and speech indicate who and what influences me.

In the church, there is a trend happening that is not so new, it is just packaged differently from the woes of the early church. Today, we see that women come in the the House of the Lord wearing something that is either too short, too high, too low or too see through. Outfits like this can be a big distraction.

1 Timothy 2:9-10

 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest (kósmios) well arranged, modest apparel, with shamefacedness (aid?s) regard for others, respect and reverence and sobriety (s?phrosÿn?) self-control; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

1 Timothy 2:9-10 (MSG)

And I want women to get in there with the men in humility before God, not primping before a mirror or chasing the latest fashions but doing something beautiful for God and becoming beautiful doing it.

We observe in the text that women the expensive extravagant clothing and hairstyles along with the jewelry was a big distraction in the Temple during that time. Paul was telling the women that if they were to adorn themselves, their emphasis should be on their good works, or deeds—not their outward appearance. The good deeds that a godly woman occupies herself with should be the thing that stands out about her—not her fashion.

Today, we find ourselves in the same situation. Only the deception of the enemy is even greater because some women have been deceived into thinking that the world’s standard of dress is appropriate for the House of God. The reality is: they are playing right into the traps of Satan: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life. This is not about being a prude or old-fashioned, it is about responsibility and accountability. That is why Jesus used that illustration with the coin. “Who’s image is this? What does it say?” It was actually unlawful for the religious leaders to even have that coin inside the Temple. For, according to Jewish law, it was an abomination for something that belonged to Caesar to even be brought into God’s House, yet the Pharisees were able to produce this coin instantly for Jesus to inspect.

In light of this revelation, I ask you, when you go into the House of God, or even throughout your day to day affairs…whose name is on you? Would I know what Kingdom you belonged to by watching you walk down the street? Would there be something different about you, or would you blend right in? If so, then render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s. But, if you say you are part of the Beloved, then your dress and your speech should display that which you confess. So, render unto God what is God’s.

Romans 12:1-2

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Romans 12:1-2 (MSG)

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

How To Know If You Have A Soul Tie

First let us define what a soul tie is…

What is a soul tie?

“Soul bondage or soul ties result from any joining together. Soul bondage or soul ties are the cleaving together of bodies, spirits, or souls in a relationship whereby two souls are joined or knitted together and become as one.” (Epperson)

Although the term “soul tie” is not found in Scripture, the words

knit or cleave

, which is found in Scripture illustrate the concept of joining together with someone or something.
Matthew 19:5,

And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

It is possible to have a physical, spiritual or emotional soul tie.

Before we go deeper into that, let’s look go to the Scriptures and see a healthy soul tie between David and Jonathan and an unhealthy soul tie between Shechem and Dinah. Just as God has designed healthy covenants with people, Satan produces a counterfeit resulting in an unhealthy soul tie.

1 Samuel 18:1-4

And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.

And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father’s house.

Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.

And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.

Genesis 34:1-8

And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.

And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.

And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.

And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.

And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were come.

And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him.

And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob’s daughter: which thing ought not to be done.

And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.

Let’s Discuss a few more soul ties…….

  1. God-empowered ties
  2. Unholy Satan-Empowered Ties
  3. Non-sexual bonding ties
  4. Spiritual Adultery
  5. God-Empowered Ties (From “Healing of the Spirit”)

Ties that are God-empowered and blessed include those that are just and healthy within the “husband and wife” relationship in marriage, the parent and child relationship, sibling relationships, and other extended relative relationships (Gen. 2:24, Mat. 19:4-9, etc.). When these soul ties are disrupted by death, divorce, or adultery, wounding can be severe.

  1. Unholy Satan-Empowered Ties

Unholy ties created by immoral sexual activities (and by dark vows, covenants, curses, oaths, and organizational secret oaths) are Satan-empowered and are an abomination to God. Sexual sins produce unholy spiritual and physical soul ties .

  1. Non-Sexual Bonding Ties

Non-sexual bonding ties develop when one person dominates another in a manner not designed of God. Sometimes unhealthy non-sexual soul ties are developed with parents, mentors or friends—those whom we strongly admire or with whom we have a close or intimate relationship. Often these are evident in co-dependent relationships. Two ties that fall under this category are: Obsessive entanglements with a person (giving them more authority in your life than you give to God)

Controlling relationships: Church leadership, work, parents, friends or relatives.

  1. Spiritual Adultery

Spiritual adultery takes place (1) when a marriage partner gives to someone else what belongs only to their mate (for instance, giving personal and intimate communications from the heart or sharing deep fellowship with another), (2) when a marriage partner’s heart has not yet learned to embrace (what should be) it’s only source of manhood or womanhood in their marital companion, (3) when flirting with or passionately kissing someone who is not your mate, or (4) when sharing innermost feelings with another (who is not a counselor).

Indicators that you have an unholy soul tie in operation:

  1. Confusion

When you are outside of the God’s will, there will be confusion with every decision you make and every plan you attempt to follow. This relationship, or soul tie will cause your feelings to say one thing, yet your spirit tells you something different. The truth will always override a lie, that is why it is important to bathe every relationship in prayer and keep God in the middle asking every step of the way, “God, how do you want me to proceed in this relationship.” 1 Corinthians 14:33, For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. If there is an absence of peace in the relationship, that means something is not right. The Holy Spirit is trying to get your attention—do not ignore these warnings.

  1. Misery

Anxiety, sorrow and pain is the result of continuing to do something that we know God is not in agreement with. Feeling disgusted about what you are doing, all the while not having the will power to change our situation could leave us feeling defeated and miserable. All we have to do is cry out to God in this situation and Psalm 23 tells us that He will restore our souls. God will restore our mind, our will and emotions. He can re-set us.

  1. Torment

2 Corinthians 10:5, Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; When we have a ungodly soul tie, our minds experience torment: whether we are rehearsing old hurts, or arguments, having thoughts that make us feel dirty or worthless. When we have peace with God, our minds cannot be tormented no matter what is going on around us. If we stay vigilant of the fact that Satan will use a soul tie to steal our destiny, destroy our peace and kill our hope in a forgiving Father, then we will used the Word as a weapon against him when our minds are being tormented. When an ungodly thought comes, we SPEAK, not THINK the Word until our peace is returned. The devil hates when the Word is spoken and the Name of Jesus is called. Torment the one who has been tormenting you.

  1. Disobedience

We disobey God for a number of reasons when it comes to severing a soul tie.

  1. We hope the person will change and somehow turn out to be good for us.
  2. We hope that God will change us and make the situation better.
  3. Our flesh does not want to let it go
  4. It’s too uncomfortable to do what God is telling us to do.
  5. It’s too painful to make a choice between God and this person or thing.
  6. We don’t believe it is God telling us to get out of the situation.

7 SIGNS THAT YOU HAVE AN UNHEALTHY SOUL TIE:

(“Soul Ties”, Kris Vallotton, moralrevolution.com)

  1. You are in a physically, and/or emotionally, and/or spiritually abusive relationship, but you “feel” so attached to them that you refuse to cut off the connection and set boundaries with them.
  2. You have left a relationship (maybe long ago), but you think about the other person obsessively (you can’t get them out of your mind).
  3. Whenever you do anything – make a decision, have a conversation with someone etc., you “feel” like this person is with you or watching you.
  4. When you have sex with someone else (hopefully your husband or wife), you can hardly keep yourself from visualizing the person you have a soul tie with.
  5. You take on the negative traits of the person that your soul is tied to and carry their offenses whether or not you actually agree with them.
  6. You defend your right to stay in a relationship with the person that your soul is tied to, even though it is negatively effecting or even destroying the important relationships in your life (husband, wife, kids, leaders, etc.)
  7. You have simultaneous experiences and/or “moods” as the person your soul is tied to. This can even include sickness, accidents, addictions etc.

How To Break Soul Ties

Prayer for Sexual Sins (from, “Healing of the Spirit”, Arlin Epperson, 2014)

The prayer for release from sexual sins and bondage (or soul ties) should cover the following areas:

  1. Pray for forgiveness.
  2. Pray for release and loosing.
  3. Pray to break the power of inherited lust; pray to forgive the one who introduced the problem into the family line.
  4. Pray for breaking of all soul ties between the seeker and every other partner or previous husband to which they are no longer married.
  •  Pray that the sword of the Spirit will separate each partner and break every soul ?tie. ?
  •  Place the cross of Jesus between each partner and cover them with the blood of ?Jesus. ?
  •  “Loose” each partner from these unholy unions. ?
  •  In the name of Jesus, declare the spirits of the persons involved in immorality to ?be separated. ?
  •  Take authority (in Jesus’ name), breaking any satanic power that exists in the per- ?son’s life as a result of illicit sex, non-sexual bondage, or spiritual adultery. ?

4. If they are currently married to a “born again” spouse, pray that God will recognize the current union as the “twain shall be one flesh” mentioned in Gen 2:24 and Mark 10:2-12).

  1. Pray for cleansing of body, soul, and spirit.
  •  Pray to cleanse the person’s mind of pornographic images, ungodly sexual expe- riences and all sinful thoughts, words, deeds and acts. ?
  •  Pray to cleanse the eyes that have looked upon what they should not have seen. ?
  •  Pray to cleanse the ears from whatever they have heard that is unholy. ?
  •  Pray to cleanse the mouth, skin, hands, and sexual organs from what they have ?touched. ?
  1. Pray against any spirits of immorality, pornography, and unusual sexual practices, particularly if the seeker has had an experience with a prostitute or with an animal. ?
  2. Pray the seeker is released from all iniquities and from the consequences of these sins. ?
  3. Pray the Lord heal all of these experiences so that Satan can no longer use them for evil ?purposes. ?
  4. Pray the seeker is healed of all guilt and shame. ?
  5. Pray for healing of all these sins and soul ties, that these be covered by the blood of Je?sus. ?
  6. For single people, pray that all the “normal sexual emotions” be channeled into other ?acceptable and appropriate activities. ?
  7. Pray release from any immorality or polygamy of their forefathers. ?
  8. Renounce “Baal” (the god of sexual depravity) in the name of Jesus. ?

Mental Health and the Church

Mark 12:30And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart (GS 2588-kardia meaning heart, thoughts feelings), and with all thy soul (GS 5590 psyche pronounced sue-Kay meaning breath, spirit, vitality), and with all thy mind (GS 1271 dinoia pronounced dee-Ya-noy-ya meaning deep thought, imagination, mind), and with all thy strength (GS 2479 ischys pronounced is-Koos meaning forcefulness, ability, power): this is the first commandment.

Spirit – God speaks to our spirit, our spirit speaks to God

John 6:38 “For I have come down from heaven not to do mine own will, but the will of Him who sent me.”

Soul – We speak with ourselves – reasoning

Mark 12:33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

Body – We speak with our world around us through our five senses

2 Corinthians 5:5-9 (TLB)5 This is what God has prepared for us, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit. 6 Now we look forward with confidence to our heavenly bodies, realizing that every moment we spend in these earthly bodies is time spent away from our eternal home in heaven with Jesus. 7 We know these things are true by believing, not by seeing. 8 And we are not afraid but are quite content to die, for then we will be at home with the Lord. 9 So our aim is to please him always in everything we do, whether we are here in this body or away from this body and with him in heaven.

SPIRIT: God speaks to our spirit The spirit he placed in us Before we left heaven

SOUL: Will, Intellect, and Emotions
We have feelings, we make decisions from our own thoughts

BODY: Delivers/acts on what the soul directs it to do

Romans 8:6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
OUR GOAL: To feed our spirit and starve our soul so that we can live, and move, and have our being in Christ Jesus. Move by the Spirit of God (spiritual), not the spirit of this world or the spirit of man (carnal).

Would you agree that affliction (mental weariness), sickness (physical ailment) originate in the mind?
A. Afflicted – Greek word “kakopatheo” Ka-Keh-Pa-thay-o meaning to endure hardness or suffer trouble. Weary. (mental and emotional)
B. Sick–Greekwordis“astheno”Ahs-thin-neh-o,meaningweakimpotent…physicallyill, physically out of line; physical ailment. From the root word Asthenes, Astheno and astheneia mean to lack in strength physically and mentally. Sickness is an absence of health within a body or thing.

Would you agree that infirmity is spiritual (asthenia) and originates from what we allow in by giving over the authority Jesus gave us to have power over it, and to keep it out?

A. Luke 13:11- And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity [astheneia] eighteen years, and was bowed together (anakupto), and could in no wise lift up herself.

B. Greek word “ astheneia” Ahs-thin-neh-e-ah. It is a wicked spirit, an evil enemy/foe that comes upon an individual to debilitate them, attacking their destiny and purpose from God. The goal of this spirit is to debilitate by blocking, deterring, interfering, distracting, crippling. It desires to force one to live below the privilege and power of our covenant promise from God, which is to prosper and be in good health, and to partner with Him to serve His purpose and do His will.

Daniel 4:27-37
27 Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity. 28 All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar. 29 At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon. 30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? 31 While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. 32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. 33 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: 35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? 36 At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. 37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

Reason – Hebrew Strong’s 4486 manda (man-Dah) meaning wisdom or intelligence :- knowledge, reason, understanding. Also 4093 – madda (ma-Dah) meaning intelligence or consciousness :- knowledge, science, thought.

Many are Called; Few are Chosen. Matthew 22:14

Many are Called; Few are Chosen

February 14, 2017

Matthew 22:14 KJV- For many are called (Greek 2822 kletos clay-Tos means invited), but few are chosen (Greek Strong’s 2128 eklektos Ache-Klayk-Tos – elected implying favorite).

  1. What does this Scripture mean?? Matthew 22:14 – Many are called but few are chosen – again, everyone is invited (called-kletos), but God choses (elects – eklektos), and partners in warring with those who desire to be chosen and those who have demonstrated their love for Him by staying in a place of readiness to serve Him, those who are willing to go through the spiritual growth process of being refined and made into His likeness, the likeness of His character, demonstrating that His heart is their/our heart. I offer for your consideration that God choses those He trusts and His trust in us comes after we are trained and tested and proven. Not that He needs it, but so that we know what is in us. God knows what is in us – He made us, but we do not really know what is in us – what is our true character, what we will do in any given situation until we are trained by Him, tested by Him, and proven or established by Him.

In football or even beauty pageants, everyone is invited to participate, some may even be on the field or on the stage, but only the chosen actually play/are are crowned.

While coming into the Kingdom of God is NOT a competition, everyone is invited to come, some will:

?-Choose not to come – believe it or not, everyone does not want to go to heaven (Romans 1:27- 32) .

Some have heard the Word, they have even heard God, and they still choose not to join the God of the Angel Armies, and His Angelic beings.

Romans1:27-32And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Choose to come, but not all the way – neither hot or cold, but lukewarm
(Revelation 3:16 – So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth). – .

Choose to come but come vainly; depart from me, I never knew you.
(Luke 13:26-28Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. 27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. 28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

Many Christians are running around doing Church work, but not the work of the Church, the Ekklesia – the eklectos or chosen ones.

Let’s talk about the Ekklesia for a moment. The Ekklesia is an assembly, or an assembly of Christian Believers, followers of Jesus Christ, who look for, hope for, eternal salvation through Jesus Christ, who observe their own spiritual doctrine, hold their own spiritual gatherings, and manage their own affairs, according to the Word of God, for the Body for order’s sake. We are those who anywhere, in a city, village, constitute such a company and are united into one body, that is, the whole body of Christians scattered throughout the earth. We are the assembly of faithful Christians already dead and received into heaven;

So we are an assembly, on earth or in heaven, of the called out ones of God who gather to obey and worship Him, nor the work of the Kingdom which is to move as God’s sons (John 1:12, Romans 8:19-22).

What is the Work of the Church- Matthew 28:19-20. Go ye therefore… what is the work of the Kingdom to move as sons of God doing the greater works of which Jesus spoke in

John 5:20 – For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works (Greek 2041 ergon – effort, toil, occupation) than these, that ye may marvel.

John 14:12 – Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works (Greek 3187 meizon; 3137 megas = exceedingly more work ergon) than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

What kind of greater or exceedingly more work could we possibly do? Continue the work of Jesus the Christ –

Mark 16:15-20 – And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. 19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.,

But few will be chosen eklektos – selected as in favored by God. We always say, “I trust God, I trust God”, but the real point to make is, “Does God trust you?” His chosen, His elect are those who are sold out to Him whole-heartedly. Not sometimes, not when we feel like it, but in every life issue, every time. Chosen to do what? Rule and reign with Jesus when we are caught up to meet Him in the air.

Jesus tells us that everyone who says “Lord, Lord”. Will not enter the Kingdom of God.

(Matthew 5:20, Matt 7:21, Matt 23:13).

So, the conclusion of the matter is, in Jesus Name and by His authority (Exousia – power) we need to be about our Father’s business (Luke 2:49 – And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business) continuing to do the greater works (megas – City-taking power – The controlling influence upon a certain place, region, city or territory of operation) of Jesus.

  1. Will every saved person go to heaven? The short answer is yes, but will we get to stay?

Matthew 10:34-40 – Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and e that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. 40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

Romans 14:11-12 – For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

1 Corinthians 3:13 – Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

  1. Will every saved person rule and reign with Jesus the Christ when He returns? What does “rule and reign” mean?
