Know Why You Believe: Lesson 4 (Man and Sin-Part One)
Series: PowerLine
When we believe what the Bible teaches about the nature of man and the effects of the Fall, we can comprehend the grace of God. The “new man” is re-made in the image of God in righteousness. Our old pattern of ignoring God has is now changed. Ephesians 4:22-24, That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Through Christ we are not only forgiven through for our acts of individual sin, but we are given a new nature. Jesus puts a new man in the suit—not just a new suit on the man. When a person is changed by Christ, attitudes will change as well. Believing this to be true is what keeps the devil at bay. If you do not know who you are in Christ and what you are entitled to will leave an opening for the enemy to deceive you about your identity.

Know WHY You Believe: Lesson 3: The Death of Jesus Christ
    Series: PowerLine
For the entire world, it is the Cross that symbolizes Christianity as we know it. You can see the Cross atop Church buildings, adorning church logos, or even fashioned into jewelry. The Cross was God’s chosen instrument to repair the breach between Himself and humanity. According to the Mark 10:45, the death of Jesus on the Cross was intentional. According to Luke 19:10, the death of Jesus on the Cross had one purpose: redemption. It is the death of Jesus on the Cross that highlights the very thing that makes Christianity DIFFERENT from all other religions. God does for us what we cannot do for ourselves. He makes a way for each one of us, born into sin, ignorant of our Creator, to not only be forgiven—but, redeemed from every curse and restored back into fellowship with Him forever.

Know WHY You Believe: Lesson 2 (Jesus Christ)
    Series: PowerLine
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ shows His dominion, authority and power over the entire world and is what sets him apart from other religious leaders like Buddha or Muhammad. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was the catalyst for the group of men that were transformed from fugitives who had denied they ever knew Jesus to Ministers of Fire boldly proclaiming the Word of the Lord (Matt. 26:70-74). And Jesus said it was for the reason of the Cross-that He had come: to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10) and to give His life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). This is WHY we believe in Jesus Christ. He is the foundation of our entire faith.

A Better Way To View Sin
We have been conditioned to think in terms of sin and punishment.  The problem is: some of us view God as a harsh judge that lives OUTSIDE of us. And we hope and pray that He will find it in His heart to forgive us. While we wait to see, we are laden with guilt, shame and anxiety as we attempt to “make it up to God” for our shortcomings. We must understand that we are not SEPARATE from God. Sin separates us from God.

Sin is not oppression, it is an obstacle we need to overcome. We should look at sin in our lives not as the thing that will FOREVER keep us out of God’s presence, but an OBSTACLE to be overcome so that we can STAY connected to our Source (His Presence).

Weapons of Mass Destruction: Besetting Sins
Besetting sins, or the “chief” or “principal” sin(s) that we are susceptible to. Whether it be our (1) makeup or (2) the circumstances we find ourselves, or both, we are particularly vulnerable to this sin and we easily and frequently fall into it repeatedly.

Weapons of Mass Destruction: Backlash (Part One)
The enemy uses a demonic quid pro quo when the repercussions come from us binding his activities, gaining new territory, or spiritual stature.  Satan answers us back in the form of a backlash to counterattack what we have just won in the spiritual realm.  This weapon is designed to frustrate and disappoint.  But, not any more....now, we have a STRATEGY!
